QR codes are the key to everything we do here at Kubity. What are they and how do you use them? Read on!
QR codes are a barcode system invented in 1994 by Toyota’s Denso Wave as a fast way to track vehicle assembly. But unlike traditional barcodes, QR codes can hold up to 100 times more data and can be digitally scanned — this makes them the perfect delivery system for 3D models.
Since privacy and security are in our DNA, every model in Kubity includes secure data encryption via QR codes. This ensures that your 3D is seen only by you and the person you’re communicating with. And all of this happens automatically with no need to turn on special settings.
How It Works
When a model is exported with Kubity, it is automatically assigned a dedicated QR code, then safely locked away waiting for the right person to come along with the key to open the door — that’s the QR code!
QR codes are like a shortcut to your model and can be scanned device-to-device using the Kubity Go app for instant access. Only a person with the QR code or URL link can explore your models.
🔍 Find a QR Code
Mobile ▸ Open the Kubity Go app on your mobile or tablet, find the model you want, then click the ‘share’ icon to show the model’s QR code.
Desktop ▸ Login to your account at account.spktechnology.com/login. Choose the ‘Models’ tab from the menu. Click model to open in your browser and show the model’s QR code.
🤳🏽 Scan a QR Code
Scanning a model with the Kubity Go app on your mobile or tablet is as easy as 1,2,3 !
1. Open the Kubity Go app
2. The screen is ready to scan any QR code; just hold it up to the QR code
3. The code is scanned and the model is automatically opened and added to your model library
That’s just one of the many ways you can share your models with Kubity!
